New York Times – Sales and Marketing Audio

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

This New York Times Sales and Marketing audio book is a great synopsis of the most important points to observe if you want to succeed in any market. Listening to this ‘New York Times – Sales and Marketing’ audio book made me step back and take a thorough look at our current efforts. I can highly recommend this for anyboy involved in sales and/or marketing. We tend to loose sight of the larger principles as we’re engaged in the day to day battle to gain market share and improve.

That I could listen to this book rather than having to read it, made it a lot easier, actually I was brushing up on my education whilst commuting. There are plenty of Management and Business audio books available, I’ll get myself an other one today!

Having good presentation skills is a trait that goes a long way to ensure professional success. There are many occasions in our professional lives where we need to present our ideas and opinions or even facts to an audience. For a successful presentation it is important to keep the interest of the audience alive at all times so that they look forward to what you are saying.

One of the tricks in transforming your presentation from a boring one to an interactive session is to use animated PowerPoint backgrounds. Incorporation of graphics will surely attract the attention of your audience. However, as is true with anything else, excess use of animated PowerPoint background may actually backfire and hence it is important that you know the profile of your audience beforehand.

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

Executive gifts aren’t exactly promotional items — although they could qualify as promotional items if used to attract clients.  An executive gift might be appropriate in the following situations:

  • You would like to show appreciation for established clients
  • You would like to attract new clientele
  • You would like to build better employee relations or help induce better employee performance

Executive gifts should be of better quality than promotional items such as ballpoint pens or key chains.  Ideally, executive gifts should represent several things.

Have you participated in team building activities?

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

The thought of working for a company who would consider dropping me into the countryside for team building activities makes me want to scream. I know it’s the fashion now, and it seems anti-social to object to them, but I would rather be left alone for a night in a haunted house than participate. Don’t we see enough of our colleagues thru the week without spending all week-end with them?

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

At a time when security is becoming a concern for many companies, it is important to recognize that you may be subject to a background check before receiving an offer of employment. When filling out the application during the interview process, you should be up front about your criminal record and reveal any legal problems you have had in the past. Many companies will allow you to explain any felonies on your record, but if they are discovered during a background check you will likely never get that chance.
