I work in the financial industry, and the company I work for is looking for a Business Intelligence tool to run reports for my customers. I was doing research on the web and other online publications and I ended up on Actuate, a mid sized company that offers an extensive BI suite with pixel perfect reporting tool, spreadsheet product, performance management suite, and much much more. I was browsing through their site, and found tons of useful collaterals and web seminars on their products and other industry solutions. I’m still in the process of researching, but we are leaning toward Actuate, as I think their spreadsheet tool can be really helpful.

I work in the Business Intelligence industry and specialize in reporting with Crystal and Actuate reports. Both products are great, but if I had to recommend one over the other, I would give Actuate a few higher points than Crystal. Both have similar interfaces and require the same amount of effort and time to develop a report. From my experience, Actuate reports have been easier to maintain over time as Actuate does a better job of supporting libraries and components. Additionally, migrate from one product to the other is a lot easier with Actuate. In conclusion, I would choose Actuate over Crystal.

I’m a junior web designer for a small company, and we plan on redesigning our current website in the near future.  My assignment was to research for corporate/general websites out on the web and take components from the sites and gain ideas for our new future website.  While doing the search, I landed on a company called Actuate (www.actuate.com), which I think has an excellent webpage. Actuate is a software company that competes in the Business Intelligence and reporting space, and has a tagline of “Rich Internet Applications without Limits.”  First thing that caught my attention is their homepage. The flash intro is awesome, and all the information (products, solutions, resources) I would need are right in front of me.  The whole site is very clean and easy to navigate and has wonderful images and solid promotions. I’ve been looking deeply at the site for ideas and I would recommend this site to anyone who is seeking for website idea and looking for future design planning.
