If the lawsuit is severe you may be fined many times the cost of the product or the service. In addition, you may have to cover the legal charges of the consumer too. In its worst form, your entire business can be penalized as out of commission. Besides, you can also face financial losses due to some natural calamities.

There are some small businesses that think they don’t need any small business insurance coverage just because they are not directly related to the product, like the retailers and the wholesalers. But they can also be dragged into a lawsuit due to sheer negligence towards the feature or state of a product.

There are several different forms of small business insurance coverage but the most used coverage is the umbrella insurance policy. But, it depends on the nature of the business and the specific requirements of the producer or the seller to choose a particular insurance coverage. Before purchasing a policy make sure that your premiums are calculated in accordance with your sales volume, product type and your role in the entire process of manufacturing and selling of the product. Moreover, never try to understate your actual sales amount; otherwise you can be heavily penalized for under insurance in case of any lawsuit.
