You can chalk that up to the blogging phenomenon, or maybe even the fact that most people seem to be only interested in writing poetry, not reading it. Either way, it can be hard for talented poetry writers to find poetry publishers. That is why you need to separate yourself from the many “wannabe” poets by hiring an agent. This shows that you are serious about your work, and that you are not just one of the many amateur poets who thinks that they will magically be published right away.
