I know that it is important to keep your social security number private. It has always bothered me that many student loan companies use your number as your account number. I always make sure I shred any paperwork with my number on it, but it would seem in some cases that this is out of my hands. My husband and I combined our loans, and we keep getting letters from companies offering us a better deal on our interest rate. It bothers me that they can so easily get our student loan information, and that our social security numbers are appearing on what we consider to be junk mail.

If you can’t pay your property tax, you should know that you could very easily lose your house this way. If you are having problems paying it, you have to talk to your bank. They may be able to extend you more of a loan to cover it, but don’t expect them to do that more than once or twice. But the real fun begins over the next few days. Your INBOX will be literally flooded with junk mail. And I do mean JUNK MAIL. More ads and trash to weed through. Then you’ll be stuck clicking the UNSUBSCRIBE link to all those junk mails. What a way to waste your valuable time!

Real Estate has a big advantage with the 1031 Exchange tax code that was enacted a while back. Even if you only have one house you are selling it pays to check out the tax free option you have with a 1031 exhange.

This is a legal transaction that is free on any income tax and is actually supported by the IRS. The simplicity of it is that two properties are exchanged by selling one and buying the another with the proceeds which is “like kind”, i.e. used for business or for investment. Using the IRS Codes you mix and match and are not limited to exchanging property similar or exactly like your present property. The “like kind” is more for business or investment designation.
