Some companies legitimately want to help people with bad credit consolidate their debt. They usually charge reasonable upfront fees, avoid making extravagant claims, and offer professional references on request. Then there is the other type of bad credit debt consolidation company. This type of company preys on your fears and appeals to your hope that somewhere out there lies an easy solution. Unfortunately, the latter type of bad credit debt consolidation company is far more common than the former.

Did you ever order a design for a print advertising from an advertising agency? Boy – they are expensive. I would better recommend to choose a freelance designer. Some of them worked in agencies before – so you get the same quality. A friend of mine from Europe just had the same experience. After disappointing years with an agency he gave the job to Grafikdesigner München and is very happy now about the results. It’s not so easy to find an experienced designer. But once you found him, a great business relationship can start.

Set up to provide pensions plans for government employees, ICMA Retirement Corporation now provides pensions for the employees of 6,600 government-owed bodies and departments. About 650,000 people participate in ICMA pension plans.
ICMA pensions are of the deferred compensation type, and include:
457 – the majority of ICMA pension plans
401(a)
401(k)
ICMA offers a five-minute pension check-up, which includes a quick calculator to show how much you need to save – this is similar to other retirement calculators – for the retirement income you desire.
How long will you live?
However, it has one feature that will give you some basic information on how long you will live. This is very important, because if you think you will live for ten years after retiring, but you actually live for 30 years, you will find your income much too low when you grow old. This is a serious problem for us all, particularly as the State is unlikely to be able to provide the level of support that many expect.
Recently, insurance and pension firms have altered their estimates of how long people are likely to live, taking into account health and lifestyle. You may find when you use this tool that you need to save much more than you thought. It is recommended you use this tool, even if you do not work for the government.

One of the better options available in retirement funds is the 457 – if you work for an employer. It is a flexible fund. Normally, the employer sets up the system for contributions to the 457 fund, and once you start you have to continue to pay into the fund. Anyone who stops paying into a 457 or any other retirement fund is either very foolish or has hit very hard times.
The good thing about the 457 is that you could invest up to $15,000 in 2006, and up to 15,500 in 2007 – this is more than in a conventional IRA. If you are over 50, you may be able to put more in – a catch-up investment, of $5,000 a year. This means that most people can put as much as they can afford into a 457 – and maybe more then they can afford.
457 is flexible – and tax-free
The 457 is a flexible retirement fund. For example, if you move jobs you can take your fund with you – this makes it a good fund to invest in if you are young, and likely to move jobs several times in the next 10-20 years. You can put $15,000 a year into a 457 compared with $5,000 for a normal IRA.
But what about the money in the 457? Of course that is invested in good quality funds, which should be managed conservatively, but the good thing is that because you have a 457 fund, you will pay less tax, according to how much you put in. Also, the earnings of the fund are not taxed – so you end up with a fund of untaxed earnings that has been accumulating money untaxed for years! This makes the 457 a good deal.

If you are an employee, your retirement plan is protected by US Federal laws. In fact, most pension plans are covered by he Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). It is a good idea to check whether your pension plan is covered by ERISA or not. If not, ask your employer to consider making it compliant.
You se, ERISA provides protection for yourself and family in any employee pension plan operated by your employer. It also ensures that you have access to full information about the retirement plan, so you can make your own judgement about its value.
Also, the people who manage pension plans must meet certain standards of conduct. These are specified in law, and protect you from total loss of your fund which could happen if an unscrupulous manager found the company short of cash – or indeed himself short of cash. If your fund is covered by ERISA this is very unlikely to happen.
Most private sector pension plans are covered by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) – schemes operated by government or churches are not covered. Among other things, ERISA provides protections for participants and beneficiaries in employee benefit plans, including providing access to plan information. Also, those individuals who manage plans (and other fiduciaries) must meet certain standards of conduct under the fiduciary responsibilities specified in the law.

Nearly 12,500,000 people in the United States today own common stock.
This fact, so briefly stated, is of first-rank importance. For it summarizes one of the profound and far-reaching shifts in American social and economic life in the twentieth century. Never before in our history have so many of us owned so much of the nation’s industrial wealth, so much of its productive capacity, so much of its profit potential.
Many elements have combined to bring this about. Until the end of World War II in 1945, stock ownership was for all practical purposes the privilege of the well to do. Only the man of wealth could afford to buy stock in significant amounts. Only the man with surplus funds could afford to ride out market slumps and the temporary loss of income and value. And only the few initiates were really educated and informed about the behavior of markets and the ground rules of investment.
